New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered the Allahabad High Court to monitor the CBI investigation into the Hathras gang-rape case.
A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of India SA Bobde felt it appropriate that the High Court should monitor the case, considering the fact that it is already examining a suo moto proceeding on the “hurried cremation” of the 19-year-old victim.
The order came on a PIL filed by social activist Satyama Dubey, who sought a court-monitored probe into the alleged gang-rape of the 19-year Dalit woman who died at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital on September 29.
