New Delhi: In an act of bravado, a 31-year-old man climbed the pipe to the fourth floor of a hotel in Ahmedabad’s Naroda in the early hours of Monday and molested a woman when she resisted his demand for sex. The accused had allegedly watched the woman enter the hotel after which he decided to climb up to her room.
In an FIR filed at Naroda police station, the 26-year-old woman said that she, along with her husband, had been staying at the hotel in Naroda-Muthia area for a month and a half as their house was under renovation, a Times of India report said.
At around 3:30 am on Monday, when the woman’s husband left the hotel to get some snacks, she noticed someone at her room’s window. Suddenly, a man jumped inside and demanded that she have sex with him.
The accused allegedly molested her when she resisted him. She managed to run out of the room calling for help when hotel staffers and her husband rushed to her rescue. According to the FIR, the man allegedly assaulted the husband as well.
The Naroda police team was alerted about the incident after they received a call from one of the hotel staffers, following which they rushed to the hotel and arrested the accused, Parth Patel, a resident of Sardarnagar.
Reportedly, Patel has been accused of assault and molestation. The accused is a daily-wage labourer, said SJ Bhatia, Naroda police inspector, adding that he had been watching the woman for a long time. Even after the hotel staff and the complainant’s husband caught Patel, he abused and threatened them, following which he also assaulted the husband, the report added.
