Bhubaneswar: Yohani de Silva has given Indians a reason to groove amid the COVID pandemic with the happy and hummable tune of Sri Lankan hit ‘Manike Mage Hithe’.
The song has moved beyond the island nation and is fast gaining popularity in Odisha too with multiple versions of the ‘refreshing song’ flooding social media.
The Odia version by Saroj Haldhar, a sound engineer from Kendrapada, has already earned 1,294,415 views. “This is the highest views I have received for any song in less than two weeks of uploading,” the 30-year-old, who also runs a music production house told the media.
Dibyajyoti Panda of Balasore Boys has also penned another Odia version of the hit number and had a friend, Rajat K, lent voice to it. The video, which they recorded in a local studio by spending around Rs 2000, has earned 440,356 views so far.
Sooraj (Sambalpuria Saheb) has come up with a Sambalpuri version of the song.
The video, featuring Yohani and Satheeshan Rathnayaka, has been breaking the internet since being upload on YouTube on May 22 this year. It was produced by Chamath Sangeeth in July 2020.
