New Delhi: Aadhaar, the 12-digit unique identification number, has become one of the most important documents in India.
Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), which issues Aadhaar, on Thursday issued a notification to update Aadhaar details if they have not been updated in the last 10 years.
The details can be updated online and offline, along with proof of identity and proof of address documents, by paying a fee.
“If your Aadhaar was created more than ten years ago and has not been updated, you are requested to re-verify it by uploading your ‘Proof of Identity’ and ‘Proof of Address’ documents. Online uploading fee is Rs 25 and Rs 50 for offline,” the statutory body under Central government tweeted.
UIDAI also emphasised the importance of keeping mobile number associated with the Aadhaar updated.
UIDAI also shared a video explaining how Aadhaar details can be updated. If it’s updated offline, one can go to the nearest Aadhaar centre, while for online updation, one can visit ‘myAadhaar’ portal.
