Havildar dies as gun fires accidentally while cleaning

Salipur: A police personnel was killed after his service gun went off accidentally while he was cleaning it at Kisan Nagar police station at Salipur in Cuttack district on Sunday.

According to reports, a bullet pierced the right ear of Saroj Patnaik, an Armoury Havildar of Cuttack Reserve Police Headquarters. He was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. He, however, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

A case of unnatural death has been registered at Mangalabag police station, reports added.
