Bhubaneswar: Daughter-in-law of a havildar posted at Tamando police station here has reportedly committed suicide in her in-law’s residence at Kalinga Vihar.
According to reports, Bandana Jena, daughter of Basanti Jena, had married one Jamin on February 16 this year. Soon after the marriage, there was marital discord between the couple.
According to the complaint filed by Bandana’s father with the police, his daughter was being tortured by her in-laws over dowry.
On Friday, Bandana’s in-laws informed her family that she committed suicide by hanging herself in their house. The police have detained Jamin for questioning.
