Cuttack: Orissa High Court on Monday extended the interim protection from arrest granted to BJP leaders Bhrugu Buxipatra and Golak Mohapatra in Chhattrapur councillor Laxmidutta Pradhan’s murder case.
The high court had granted the BJP leaders interim protection from arrest on March 12 and later till March 19, as the police failed to submit a case diary. The next hearing will be scheduled when the court reopens after summer vacation.
On September 16, 2017, Chhattrapur councillor from NAC Ward-6, Laxmidutta Pradhan, was brutally hacked to death by armed criminals in front of his residence in broad daylight. After investigation, the police had arrested 17 persons in this connection.
