Cuttack: Five days after Gopalpur MLA Pradeep Panigrahi walked free, tainted IFS officer Abhay Pathak is all set to be released from jail after getting bail in the Baidyanathpur police station case.
The Orissa High Court, on Thursday, granted Pathak bail against cash bond of Rs 2 lakh and two sureties, his lawyer Pitambar Acharya informed.
Acharya said Pathak is likely to be released from jail after grant of bail. He was earlier granted bail in two other cases.
Pathak and his son Akash were arrested on November 27 by the Vigilance for possessing disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 9.35 crore.
The Vigilance had raided 13 locations in Bhubaneswar, Pune and Mumbai on charges of amassing properties disproportionate to Pathak’s known sources of income.
Earlier, the Centre in May had accepted Odisha government’s request for compulsory retirement of 1987-batch IFS officer.
