Kataka: The Orissa High Court on Monday granted conditional bail to former Brahmapur MLA Bikram Panda in connection with the murder of lawyer Pitabas Panda.
The Court of the Additional District and Sessions Judge, Berhampur, had earlier rejected Bikram Panda’s bail petition. Following the rejection, he had approached the High Court seeking bail.
Notably, Pitabas Panda was shot dead on the night of October 6, 2025, while he was returning home. The incident took place near his residence. He was immediately rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur, where doctors declared him dead.
According to the police, Bikram Panda and former Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) Mayor Pintu Das were the main conspirators behind the killing, allegedly motivated by political, personal and financial reasons.
