HC Lifts Stay On Appointment Of Multi-Purpose Female Health Workers In Odisha

Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Wednesday lifted the interim stay ordered by it on the appointment of 2,735 multi-purpose female health workers in the state.

The stay order was issued on February 3, after the Court heard four cases related to the recruitment process.

However, the High Court lifted the stay order after considering the replies filed by the Odisha Sub-ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSO SSC) and the State Health Department.

With the stay order removed, the recruitment process for the multi-purpose female health workers has been expedited.

The Health and Family Welfare Department announced that the Chief Minister will formally induct the selected candidates at a recruitment mela scheduled to be held in Bhubaneswar on February 7.

Notably, the OSSSC had in September 2024 declared the results of the examination held for MPHW to fill up a total of 2735 vacancies across the state.

However, several candidates had moved the court challenging the OSSSC MPHW recruitment by making certain allegations. Hearing their petitions, the High Court had on February 3 stayed appointment of MPHW till further orders.
