Cuttack: In a major setback for former BJD MLA Pravat Tripathy, the Orissa High Court on Friday rejected the petition seeking quashing of CBI FIR against him, informed CBI Panel Lawyer Sarthak Nayak.
The former Banki MLA was arrested on October 31, 2014, by the CBI for his alleged link with the Artha Tatwa Group, a Ponzi company involved in the multi-crore chit fund scam. He was charged with criminal conspiracy.
He had allegedly received a huge sum from the AT Group.
Minutes after his arrest, Tripathy was suspended from the BJD.
After knocking on the doors of several courts for over five months, the Orissa High Court had granted him conditional bail in March 2015.
