New Delhi: In a big relief for beleaguered former trainee IAS officer Puja Khedkar, the Delhi high court on Monday directed police not to arrest her till August 21 in connection with a case involving allegations of fake identity.
While hearing her anticipatory bail plea, Justice Subramonium Prasad issued a notice to the Delhi police and the UPSC, questioning the requirement of her custody to unearth the conspiracy since she appeared to have acted alone in the alleged offences.“As of now it doesn’t seem to me at the moment that her immediate custody is required,” Justice Prasad said.
The court also ordered Khedkar to cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
She had moved the high court challenging the district court’s decision to deny her anticipatory bail, which maintained that custodial interrogation of the accused was required to unearth the whole conspiracy and to establish the involvement of other persons involved in the conspiracy.
Khedkar is accused of fraudulently availing extra attempts at the civil services examination by faking her identity, including changing her name, her father’s and mother’s names, her photograph, signature, email ID, mobile number, and address.
