Cuttack: The Vigilance officials on Wednesday arrested a head clerk in Khurda Sub-Collector office on charges of demanding and accepting bribe to process a file on land sale.
According to a Vigilance Directorate release, head clerk Tapan Kumar Nayak was caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance Bhubaneswar Division while accepting bribe Rs 20,000 from one Raja Nayak of Basanta village. Nayak was taking the bribe to process the file for giving permission to Raja to sell his land to a general caste person.
The Vigilance officials recovered the bribe money from Nayak and arrested him. They also carried out a search in his government quarters at Khurda.
