Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths on Saturday nabbed a head clerk in the office of a superintending engineer while accepting bribe.
Acting on the complaint of a contractor that Pranaya Kumar Pattnaik, head clerk in the office of superintending engineer, R & B Division-IV, Bhubaneswar was demanding a bribe of Rs 3,500 to clear his bill, the Vigilance laid a trap.
As per the plan, the contractor went to pay the amount and the Vigilance officials apprehended Pattnaik while accepting the bribe money. The entire amount was recovered from Pattnaik and seized.
Bhubaneswar Vigilance has filed a case in this connection and investigation is on.
Following the incident, the Vigilance carried out simultaneous searches on properties of Pattnaik at two places in Bhubaneswar.
