Phulbani: Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday arrested head clerk of ITDA office in the district on bribe charge.
Following a complaint that Basanta Kumar Pani, head clerk, office of PA, ITDA, Baliguda in Kandhamal district was demanding bribe of Rs 6,000 for release of security deposit amount, the Vigilance laid a trap.
As per the plan, the complainant went to pay the money to Pani in his office room at Baliguda. The Vigilance sleuths nabbed him while accepting the bribe money from the complainant.
The bribe money was recovered from the possession of Pani and seized in presence of witnesses. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the residential house and office of Pani at Baliguda. He has been arrested and will be forwarded to the court.
