Malkangiri: The headmaster of Sikhapali Residential School at MV-29 under Balimela block in Malkangiri district has been arrested for raping a Class X girl student.
The accused, identified as Biswajit Sarkar, was arrested after some girl students of the school lodged a police complaint against him alleging sexual harassment.
On Friday, a girl student was found lying in a pool of blood with cut marks on her hand in the computer room of the school. Police had recovered a notebook from the spot in which the deceased had written about being sexually tortured.
On the other hand, the family members of the girl alleged that she was murdered inside the school hostel and demanded a thorough investigation into the matter.
According to sources, the hostel warden had spotted the girl, following which school staff rushed her to a local hospital where the doctors declared her brought dead. The doctors told the school authorities that the girl died of excessive bleeding.
However, the hostel warden had said that she was completely normal while having dinner the previous night, the sources added.
