Baripada: Headmaster of an Ashram school in Raruan area of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district has been arrested over allegation of sexually abusing a Class VI student.
The incident reportedly took place on September 25 at a school located in Sukruli block under the jurisdiction of Raruan police station.
According to sources, the accused headmaster, identified as Srikrushna Patra, allegedly called the girl student to his office on September 25 on the pretext of closing the doors and windows and abused her. Following the incident, the girl informed two matrons of the hostel, but they allegedly tried to suppress the matter.
The matter came to light after the victim informed her family members over the phone. Following this, the girl’s family lodged a written complaint against the headmaster at Raruan Police Station.
Based on the complaint, police arrested the accused headmaster from Baripada.
