Rourkela: Chhanda Charan Singh, the Headmaster of Sargigarh UP school in Odisha’s Sundargarh district, has been suspended for allegedly selling textbooks meant for students to a scrap dealer.
Block Education Officer (BEO) Mohammed Shakeel Rehman took the action on the basis of a probe after a local channel telecast a piece of news, alleging that he had sold over 3,000 textbooks provided by the government for 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22 academic sessions to a scrap dealer.
The matter came to light after a few locals spotted a pickup van loaded with a huge number of textbooks, on April 19. The vehicle had developed some mechanical glitch and these people were helping the driver restart it. They enquired about the books and got to know that the headmaster had sold them to a scrap dealer.
They later informed the local administration. Following which, the BEO reached the spot and initiated an inquiry.
