Sundargarh: The headmaster of Balishankara higher secondary school in Odisha’s Sundargarh district, Pramod Nayak, was on Friday suspended over sexual harassment allegations levelled against him by students.
The students alleged that the headmaster used to make objectionable gestures and remarks. Girl students of the school staged a road blockade protesting against the alleged immoral activities of Nayak.
Today afternoon District Welfare Officer Pabitra Mohan Pradhan arrived at the protest site and ordered Nayak’s suspension following discussion with students and officials, sources said.
According to students, teachers and officials were informed about the matter but no action was taken after which they resorted to the protest.
The students sat on the main road demanding action against Nayak. Sources added that an inquiry has been initiated in this case.
