New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s conduct does not entitle him to bail, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) told a court in the national capital. The CM had moved the court seeking regular bail in a money laundering case related to the alleged excise scam.
Appearing for ED, ASG SV Raju sought time to file a response to the pleas, submitting that there are several suppressions that the central probe agency wants to bring on record.
“He is not in custody. He has been granted interim bail by the Supreme Court. He is today in Punjab campaigning. His health did not hinder him from campaigning. He moves the bail on the last date so that we get very little time. His conduct doesn’t entitle him to any orders today,” Raju said.
Kejriwal is currently on interim bail, granted by the Supreme Court, till June 1. The Delhi CM had earlier approached the top court to extend his interim bail by seven days to undergo a host of medical tests, including a PET-CT scan, given his “sudden and unexplained weight loss coupled with high ketone levels”, which are indicative of kidney, serious cardiac ailments and even cancer.
The matter will now be heard on June 1 at 2 pm.
