New Delhi: Odisha has slipped two places in the fourth Health Index released by NITI Aayog.
With a Composite Health Index score of 44.31, Odisha has been ranked 14th for overall health performance among 19 large states in 2019-20. In 2018-19, Odisha occupied 12th rank with a 44.18. During the first two rounds of the Health Index, Odisha was placed 16th (2017-18) and 18th (2015-16).
For the second straight year, Kerala has emerged as the state with best overall performance while Tamil Nadu is second.
According to the report, compiled in collaboration with Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and technical assistance from World Bank, Telangana has moved up one slot to third, swapping places with Andhra Pradesh.
Poll-bound Uttar Pradesh has fared the worst, once again ranking last among larger states. According to the report, however, Uttar Pradesh tops the list of most incremental performance based on changes from base year (2018-19) to reference year (2019-20).
Among smaller states, Mizoram has jumped from third to the top in overall performance as well as incremental performance, while Tripura has gone down from No. 1 to second.
