Bhubaneswar: Health Minister Pratap Jena on Thursday assured that the state government would provide adequate financial support to the conjoined twins of Milipada village under Phiringia block in Kandhamal district as they left for New Delhi to get operated at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) earlier in the day.
Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram assistant manager Soumya Samantray accompanied the twins, Honey and Singh. They will be operated by a 16-member team of doctors at AIIMS.
The Kandhamal district administration has already provided financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh, while the district patient welfare committee has given Rs 2,000 for treatment of the babies.
The twins were born to Bhuan Kanhar and and Pushpanjal Kanhar on April 9, 2015. They were admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for treatment and later referred to AIIMS, New Delhi.
