Bhubaneswar: A team of Health officials visited a village in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district, where two women have died reportedly due to dysentery and vomiting, for second day on Saturday.
After the death of the two women of Chepatiamba village under Jharigaon block in the district died following dysentery and vomiting and several others reported similar complaints in the last 15 days, a team of Health officials visited the place on Friday. The officials took stock of the situation by interacting with the villagers and returned.
On Saturday, they again went to the village and carried out health check-up of the villagers having dysentery and vomiting. The officials also distributed medicines among the patients free of cost.
They also carried out an awareness programme on adopting hygienic practices through public address system. The team moved from door to door to explain the importance of cleaning the hands with soap before taking food, drinking boiled water and keeping the cooked food covered with lids.
They collected samples of water from six borewells in the village and sent those for laboratory testing in Nabarangpur. They also carried out spraying of bleaching powder in the water logging spots.
Meanwhile, Dr Arabinda Panda of community health centre (CHC) at Jharigaon said an ambulance will be deployed at the village and MHU and RBSK teams will camp there to meet any emergency situation. However, the cause of dysentery and vomiting has not been confirmed, he said.
