Berhampur: Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) would conduct door-to-door health screening from October 12 to 20 for detection of suspected cases and health conditions of comorbid persons.
Speaking to mediapersons on Saturday, Commissioner BeMC Siddheswar Baliram Bondar said 120 officials including RRT, paramedics, ASHA and AWC workers, Swacha Saathi and others would visit each household for the purpose.
Besides health screening, BeMC has taken some major steps to contain further spread of COVID-19 in the upcoming festival season, he said.
“We would strictly enforce mask and ‘panchasutra’ guidelines in entire Berhampur in coordination with sub-collector and tehsildar till the end of October. Micro containment zone for critical areas will be set up in areas as per requirement and positive cases found,” he said.
In yet another important decision, the BeMC would henceforth allow only parcel of food items at roadside kiosks. “Earlier, the people were allowed to buy and eat food from the vendors on the roadside. We have taken this decision to prohibit the crowd at the kiosks as there are chances of further contamination,” the commissioner said.
“People with COVID-19 symptoms will be provided with treatment. The step is being taken in view of the upcoming festive season,” he said.
