Talking to the media here, principal secretary, School and Mass Education, Pradipta Mohapatra said since there has been a sharp rise in the day temperature in most parts of the state, the government has decided to extend the summer vacation for all schools by three more days as a precautionary measure. Hence, schools will reopen on June 21 instead of June 18.

“As the IMD has issued heat wave alert for four interior districts of Angul, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi and Balangir and four coastal districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack and Khurda, for the next 72 hours, the government has decided to extend the vacation period,” he added.
