New Delhi: Several parts of India, including Odisha, have been reeling under extreme heat wave conditions.
The severity of weather conditions can be gauged from the fact that Delhi has recorded the hottest April in 12 years.
Odisha, on the other hand, saw nine places recording temperatures over 43 Celsius on Friday.

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), average maximum temperature in the national Capital in April this year has been 40.2 degrees Celsius — the highest since 2010 when average April temperature was 40.4 Celsius.
In fact, average maximum temperature in April crossed 40 degrees only twice – 2010 and 2022 – since 1951.
To put things in perspective, average April temperature in 2021 was 37.3 Celsius, while in 2020 it was 35.3 degrees.
On Friday, Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 43.5 degrees, five degrees above normal.
