Bhubaneswar: Despite sporadic rainfall across Odisha with rain and thundershowers at one or two places, the temperature continues to soar up at an alarming rate in the interior region of the state, with nine places recording 40 degree Celsius and above on Friday.
In an evening release by the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, Balangir remained the hottest place with 42.2 degree Celsius while the temperature rose to 40 degree Celsius and above in Titlagarh (42.1), Angul (42.1), Titlagarh (41.5), Malkangiri (41.2), Bhawanipatna (41), Jharsuguda (40.6), Sambalpur (40.2) and Sonepur (40).
Besides, the mercury hovered close to 40 degrees in Chandbali (38.4), Cuttack (38.5), Bhubaneswar (39.7), Keonjhar (38), Sundargarh (39) and Hirakud (39.6).
The release further said that the temperature is most likely go up by 2-3 degree Celsius during the next 3-4 days in the interior districts.
