Bhubaneswar: The heat wave condition in Odisha will intensify in the next 72 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned on Sunday.
The heat wave will intensify from March 31 with a rise of 2-3°C in the day temperature during the next two days and thereafter by 3-5°C at many places in the state.
The IMD has issued a yellow warning in Balangir, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Angul, Boudh and Kalahandi districts for two days on March 31 and April 1 and advised people to take precautionary measures against heat while going outside between 11 am and 3 pm.
The IMD also said there will be thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph at one or two places in the south coastal and north Odisha districts for two days under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over south Chhattisgarh and neighbourhood.
