Bhubaneswar: Most parts of Odisha is reeling under intense heat wave and witnessing an alarming rise in temperature.
According to a Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, release on Saturday evening, the industrial town of Talcher in Angul district was the hottest at 43.1 degree Celsius while the temperature hovered around 40 degree Celsius and above at eight other places – Titlagarh (43), Angul (42.7), Balangir (42), Sonepur (40.8), Bhawanipatna (42.5), Jharsuguda (40.9), Sambalpur (40.1) and Sundargarh (40).
Besides, mercury touched 40 degree Celsius in Cuttack (38.6), Bhubaneswar (39.5), Keonjhar (38), Malkangiri (39) and Hirakud (39.9).
The release further said the temperature will go up further by 2-3 degrees in the remaining parts of the state in next three days up to April 17.
The cyclonic circulation extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level over Bangladesh and neighbourhood now lies over west Assam and neighbourhood between 1.5 km and 2.1 km above mean sea level. The cyclonic circulation over northwest Madhya Pradesh and neighbourhood now lies over central parts of Madhya Pradesh and extends up to 2.1 km above mean sea level. Under its influence, the wind flow from the sea towards the surface is blocked by the westerly wind, resulting in the rise in the temperature, the release added.
