Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday said that most parts of Odisha will come under the intense heat wave in the next five days.
As there is enough moisture and convection currents in the atmosphere due to a trough running from north Rajasthan to north Chhattisgarh across south Haryana and northeast Madhya Pradesh, the rainfall activity will increase with thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph across Odisha and continue for five days till May 15, the IMD said in its mid-day bulletin.
“However, the weather will change thereafter with a change in the wind direction. At present, the day temperature in Odisha is relatively low due to the blowing of the wind from the Bay of Bengal. But, the wind direction will change with the blowing of the westerly wind from May 16 which will result in the sharp rise in the day temperature with 40 degree Celsius and above at some places over the interior and coastal districts including Bhubaneswar,” the bulletin added.
