Heat Wave To Recede In Interior Odisha In Next 72 Hours: IMD

Bhubaneswar: While most parts of interior Odisha continue to reel under intense heat wave, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that the heat wave condition in this region will recede in the next 72 hours.

“A trough from Chhattisgarh to interior Tamil Nadu, stretching from south Chhattisgarh to interior Tamil Nadu across Telangana and Rayalaseema is most likely become active in the next 72 hours. Under its influence, thunderstorm with lighting and gusty surface wind will prevail at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Nayagarh and Khurda on May 29 and Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Boudh,  Kandhamal,  Khurda, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh on May 30,” the IMD said in a mid-day bulletin on Tuesday.

While Titlagarh recorded the highest temperature with 44 degree Celsius, the temperature went past 40 degrees and above in Angul (43.1), Jharsuguda (42.6), Sambalpur (43), Sundargarh (41), Hirakud (42.6), Talcher (42.6), Bhawanipatna (42.5), Balangir (43.5), Phulbani (41.4), Malkangiri (42), Sonepur (42.8), Boudh (43) and Paralakhemundi (41.2).

IMD has issued heat wave warning in some parts of the districts of Balangir, Bargarh, Nuapada, Sonepur, Boudh, Kalahandi, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur Angul on May 27 and 28 and advised people to keep infants and the elderly with chronic diseases indoors.
