Bhubaneswar: Heatwave has returned to Odisha and the mercury is likely witnesses a slight rise of about 2 degree Celsius at a few places during the next 2 days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Wednesday.
While there is warning for thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nuapada, heatwave conditions are likely to prevail at one or two places in Mayurbhanj district till Thursday morning, the MeT office said.
“The day temperature is likely to remain 3-5 degree above normal at a few places in Odisha during the next 4-5 days. People are advised to take precautionary measures while going outside between 11 am and 3 pm,” it said.
By 2.30 pm, Sambalpur was the hottest place in Odisha at 44.2 degree Celsius followed by Jharsuguda at 43.4, Hirakud at 43, and Bhubaneswar at 41 degree Celsius. Sambalpur had recorded 41 degree Celsius followed by Jharsuguda (40.6), Hirakud (39.8) and Bhubaneswar (39) at 11.30 am. The mercury is also likely to hover around 44 degree Celsius at a few places for 3 days, an IMD forecast said.
