Bhubaneswar: Amid the heatwave warning, Jharsuguda recorded 40.4 degree Celsius before noon, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Department informed on Tuesday.
By 11.30 am, the mercury had soared to 39 degree Celsius in Sambalpur, followed by Keonjhar (38.8 degree Celsius), Hirakud (38.2 degree Celsius) and Bhubaneswar (37.6 degree Celsius).
Notably, the MeT office had forecast a further rise in daytime temperature by 2 to 3°C in two days due to northwesterly/westerly dry air and high solar insolation.
On Monday, 27 districts recorded temperature above 40 degree Celsius with Balangir being the hottest at 44 degree Celsius followed by Titlagarh at 43.8 and Angul 43.7 degree Celsius.

Bhubaneswar recorded 40.8 degree Celsius, nearly 3 degrees less than Sunday when the mercury had shot up to 43.3 degrees.
Heatwave conditions are likely to prevail in the state till April 29.
