Bhubaneswar: Heatwave condition continued to prevail across Odisha except coastal areas as 7 places recorded temperature of 43 degree Celsius or more on Friday.
According to evening bulletin of the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, the maximum (day) temperature crossed 40 degree Celsius in as many as 26 places on the day.
Boudh was the hottest place in Odisha recording the temperature of 44.6 degree Celsius. It was followed by Titlagarh with 44 degree Celsius, Nuapada 43.9, Balangir 43.4, Malkangiri and Paralakhemundi with 43.3 and Bhawanipatna with 43 degree Celsius.
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack registered 41.6 and 40.5 degree Celsius.
The IMD has issued an orange warning for the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Boudh, Balangir and Deogarh where heat wave condition is very likely to prevail in next 24 hours.
It has also forecast that light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely at one or two places in the
districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nabarangpur and Kandhamal during the period.
