Bhubaneswar: Odisha continued to reel under high temperature as 13 places recorded 40 degree Celsius or more on Monday.
According to evening bulletin of the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, Sambalpur continued to remain the hottest place in the state on the day with as mercury touched 42.6 degree Celsius.
Sambalpur was followed by Hirakud with 41.6 degree Celsius, Sonepur 41.4 and Baripada, Titlagarh and Rourkela 41 degree Celsius.
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack registered a temperature of 40.1 and 38.5 degree Celsius respectively.
The IMD has forecast no large change in maximum temperature (day temperature) at many places in the state. It is likely to be 42 degree Celsius or more at one or two places in the districts of Interior Odisha during next 3-5 days.
The Met office has issued a yellow warning and stated that thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface
wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely at one or two places in the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balasore by 8.30 am on Tuesday.
It has also said thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places in the districts of Bhadrak,
Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Sundargarh, Dhenkanal and Nabarangapur during the period.
