Bhubaneswar: Heatwave conditions are likely to prevail at a few places in North Interior and adjoining South interior and some coastal districts of Odisha Under influence of dry westerly winds prevailing in the lower levels and local heating, till 8.30 am on April 2.
The regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow warning for Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Bargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Nayagarh, Khurda, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore during this period.
“Heat is tolerable for the general public but moderate health concern for vulnerable people ( infant, elderly and sick people). It is advised to take precautionary measures for hot weather while going outside during noontime,” the Met office said.
On April 2, thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely at one or two places in Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khurdha, Cuttack, Puri, Jagatsinghpur and Koraput districts.
Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Khurdha, Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak and Balasore are also likely to experience light to moderate rain/thundershower.
On April 3, light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at isolated in coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Koraput.
“Due to steep pressure gradient strong surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph likely over Northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea over these areas during the next 48 hours,” it added.
