Bhubaneswar: Odisha continued to sizzle under intense heatwave as temperature breached 43 degree Celsius in 10 places on Saturday.
According to evening bulletin of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, as many as 13 places in the state recorded maximum (day) temperature of 43 degree Celsius or more.
Boudh and Baripada were hottest places in Odisha as both towns saw the temperature soaring to 45.3 degree Celsius.
The two places were followed by Nuapada with 44 degree Celsius, Talcher and Balangir 43.6, Nayagarh, Angul and Keonjhargarh 43.5, Jharsuguda 43.2 and Hirakud 43.1 degree. Sambalpur, Sundargarh and Titlagarh recorded maximum temperature of 43 degree on the day.
The IMD forecast that day temperature is very likely to be 40°C or above at most places and is likely to be above normal by 3 to 5°C in some districts of Odisha during next 24 hours due to prevailing Northwesterly/Westerly dry air and high solar insolation.
It also issued orange warning and said heat wave to severe heat wave condition is very likely at one or two places in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh, Angul, Boudh, Cuttack and Keonjhar.
Similarly, heat wave condition is very likely at a few places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur,
Khurda, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Sundargarh and Deogarh during the period.
