Bhubaneswar: With heatwave to persist for 3 days in Odisha, the mercury is likely to soar to 44 degree Celsius at five places – Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Balangir and Titlagarh – on Thursday, the India Meteorological Department informed.
The MeT office informed that heatwave conditions are likely to prevail at one or two places in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj during the day. Yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning has also been issued for one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Koraput till Friday morning. It further said that some places in coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput and Sundargarh might experience light to moderate rain.
The day temperature is likely to touch 45 degree Celsius at Sambalpur and Jharsuguda on Friday. “Maximum temperature is likely to remain 3-5 degrees above normal at a few places over in Odisha during the next 3-4 days,” according to the midday bulletin.
