Bhubaneswar: In view of heatwave condition prevailing across Odisha, the state government on Saturday announced that all government and private schools will hold only morning classes from April 17.
The School and Mass Education department, in a notification on the day, stated that the classes I to XII in all government and government-aided private schools will be held from 6.30 am to 11 am coming Monday. The government has taken the decision considering the heatwave conditions prevailing in the state, it added.
The department also directed the school authorities to make necessary arrangements for ensuring adequate supply of drinking water to the students and teachers during the school hours.
However, the district collectors have been advised to make changes in the school timing as per the prevalent heatwave condition in their areas.
