Bhubaneswar: Amid hot and humid and heatwave conditions, the mercury soared to 32.6°C in Bhubaneswar by 8.30 am on Monday.
Puri, Paradip and Keonjhar were close second at 32°C, followed by Balasore (31.8°C), Chandbali (31.6°C), Jharsuguda (30.8°C), Hirakud (30.2°C), Sambalpur and Rourkel each at 30°C.
The weather agency has forecast hot and humid weather conditions at one or two places in Khurda, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Angul, Balasore, and Mayurbhanj during the next 24 hours and sounded heatwave warning for isolated pockets in the state from April 15-18.

The day temperature is also expected to gradually rise by 4-6°C at many places during next 3-4 days due to prevailing mainly northwesterly/westerly dry air and high solar insolation. While there mercury may soar to 43°C in Titlagarh, Angul and Jharsuguda, twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack may record 42°C by April 18, it added.
