Bhubaneswar: Heatwave condition spread to more areas in Odisha as 28 places recorded maximum day temperature of 40 degree Celsius or more on Sunday compared to 21 places on Saturday.
According to evening bulletin of regional centre of India Meteorological Department, 8 places in the state registered temperature of 42 degree Celsius or more and three places more than 43 degree.
The places where mercury crossed 43 degree Celsius are Sonepur (43.8) which is highest in the state, Bhubaneswar (43.3) and Angul (43.1). The mining town of Talcher registered 43 degree Celsius.
These places were followed by Balangir (42.3 degree), Jharsuguda (42.2), Baripada (42) and Boudh (42).
Bhubaneswar recorded 40.2 degree Celsius by 11. 30 am and it rose to 43 degree Celsius by 2.30 pm. The city’s temperature had went up to 41.7 degree Celsius on Saturday. Its all-time highest temperature was recorded at 45.8 degree Celsius on April 11, 2016.
The IMD has issued yellow warning for coming four days forecasting heatwave condition at several places in the state.
