Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday extended the heatwave warning for Odisha till April 1.
The day temperature is very likely to rise gradually by 2 to 3 degree Celius during the next 2 days and remain 3 to 5 degree Celsius above normal at many places in Interior Odisha during the next 3 to 4 days, it said.
Yellow warning has been issued for Mayurbhanj, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, and Balangir, which are likely to experience heatwave conditions during the next 24 hours.
The Skymet has also predicted heatwave conditions in interior Odisha during this period.
Between 8.30 am on March 31 and 8.30 am on April 2, heatwave conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places in Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Balangir, Angul, and Kalahandi, the IMD said.
It has also forecast light to moderate rain/thundershower at one or two places in Bhadrak, Balasore, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Sundargarh on April 3.
