Heatwave To Scorch Odisha For 5 Days; Mercury May Soar To 43°C In Bhubaneswar & Cuttack Today

Bhubaneswar: With hot and humid and heatwave conditions prevailing over Odisha, the mercury soared to 39.6°C in Balasore and 39.2°C in Bhubaneswar by 11.30 am on Monday.

The state capital had recoded 32.6°C by 8.30 this morning.

The day temperature in both Bhubaneswar and Cuttack may touch 43°C by late afternoon and climb to 44°C on April 17-18, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed.

According to the MeT office, heatwave conditions is likely to prevail across Odisha till April 19 when the maximum temperature is expected to gradually rise by 4-6°C at many places.

APRIL 16

Bhadrak, Jajpur, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Khurda, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Kandhamal.

APRIL 17

Bhadrak, Jajpur, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Khurda, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kandhamal, and Boudh.

APRIL 18

Bhadrak, Jajpur, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Khurda, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kandhamal, Boudh, Balangir, Kalahandi, and Sonepur.

APRIL 19

Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Jajpur, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Khurda, Kalahandi, and Malkangiri.

Hot and humid conditions may also prevail in Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Puri, Mayurbhanj, and Jajpur on April 15 and Puri, Kendrapada, and Jagatsinghpur on April 16.

While there are no further weather warning, the weather agency has predicted light rain/thundershower at one or two places in Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, and Gajapati on April 20. Light to moderate rain/thundershower may also occur at one or two places in Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Bargarh, Koraput, Rayagada, and Gajapati on April 21.
