Heatwave Warning For 3 Days From Tomorrow; Gusty Winds To Lash These Places In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heatwave for three days at some places in Odisha from Tuesday (March 30).

YELLOW WARNING

March 30: Heatwave condition likely to occur at one or two places in Balangir and Sonepur.

March 31: Heatwave condition likely to occur at one or two places in Balangir, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Angul, Boudh and Kalahandi

April 1: Heatwave condition likely to occur at one or two places in Balangir, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Angul, Boudh and Kalahandi.

The IMD has advised people to take precautionary measures while going outside during noontime.

According to the midday bulletin, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places in Koraput, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nayagarh and Khurda on April 2.

The Met office has also issued thunderstorm and lightning warning for Koraput, Gajapati, Ganjam and Kandhamal during this period.

In the next 24 hours, thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph are likely to occur at one or two places in Mayurbhanj and Balasore districts. Mayurbhanj and Balasore are also likely to experience light to moderate rain or thundershower till 8.30 am on Tuesday.

The day temperature is very likely to rise by 2-3 degree Celsius during the next 2 days. The maximum temperature is very likely to remain 2-4 degree Celsius above normal during the next 24 hours and by 3-5 degree Celsius thereafter at many places in the state, it added.

On Sunday, the mercury soared to above 40 degree Celsius at five places in Odisha. Balangir was the hottest at 41.6 degree Celsius, followed by Titilagarh (41.0 degree Celsius) while Bhawanipatna, Malkangiri and Boudh recorded 40 degree Celsius.
