Bhubaneswar: True to the forecasts of Met office, heavy rain continued to lash Twin City of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack for second day on Sunday throwing normal life out of gear.
Even as continuous torrential rain for several hours had inundated low-lying areas in both cities on Saturday, the downpour continued overnight and since morning on Sunday. Almost knee-deep water was flowing on the roads forcing the people to remain indoor.
Shops downed their shutters and vehicles went off the flooded roads in the two prominent cities of Odisha. Even as no major mishap has been reported from anywhere, people have been advised people not to venture out due to waterlogging and clogging of drains.
Meanwhile, the regional mete centre has forecast light to moderate rain and thundershowers with one or two intense spells of rain in both cities during next 2-3 hours.
More rainfall is also expected in upcoming week in many parts of the state as a fresh low pressure is very likely to form over north Andaman Sea and adjoining east central Bay of Bengal around October 9, the Met office stated.
