Light to moderate rain with one or two heavy spells is likely in Dhenkanal, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Boudh, Puri, Kencrapada and Jajpur will continue till 5 pm, a nowcast warning said.
While the state will continue to experience light to moderate rain till October 10, heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in Gajapati, Ganjam, Koraput, Rayagada and Puri on October 9, it added.
IMD senior scientist Uma Shankar Das told the media that coastal and South Odisha will continue to receive rain under the influence of the cyclonic circulation, which is active along Andhra Pradesh coast and its neighbourhood.
“Koraput and Ganjam have recorded the highest rainfall in the last 24 hours. The impact has been felt in the coastal districts from Balasore to Gajapati,” he said.
Das further said that South Odisha and some coastal districts are likely to witness rain with one or two intense spells in the next 24 hours. “Such weather conditions will prevail in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack for the next two to three days,” he said.
Heavy rain is likely to lash some districts in the state on October 6, 7 and 9, but the intensity may decrease, he added.
