Heavy Rain Alert: Odisha Braces For Wet Raja Festival As Monsoon System Advances

Stalled monsoon to pick up



Bhubaneswar: Even as Odisha awaits the onset of Monsoon, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday predicted heavy rainfall from June 13 with the rain-bearing weather system expected to arrive in the state just around Raja festival.

According to the national forecaster, conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some more parts of Odisha during the next 2-3 days.

Meanwhile, intense thunderstorm activity may continue for two days along with hot and humid conditions at isolated places in the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda and Nayagarh.

While the state is unlikely to experience any large change in the day temperature during the next 24 hours, the mercury levels may gradually fall by 2-4 degree during subsequent 6 days.
