Malkangiri: Communication to 10 villages in the district was cut off after a bridge collapsed due to the incessant rain on Thursday.
According to sources, the rain that has been lashing the district for the last three days led the bridge connecting to MV 108 village under Korkonda block to collapse. The road to the village from the other end has become muddy and unusable. As a result, the communication to the area having 10 villages have been snapped.
With the Met office forecasting more rain, the locals have demanded immediate repair of the bridge for restoration of communication. The bridge serves as major link to outside world for the villagers for meeting their basic needs and health services.
“As the bridge has been damaged, we are marooned. We will have to travel a long distance circumventing MOV 108 village to meet our daily needs. The district administration must take up repair works of the bridge urgently,” said a local.
