Bhubaneswar: Following heavy rain forecast by the IMD, Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) on Thursday directed collectors of 13 districts to keep the administrative machinery fully prepared to tackle a possible flood/waterlogging/landslide situation.
The districts are Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Gajapati, Puri, Koraput, Balangir, Rayagada and Nuapada. The Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) in all these districts will operate round-the-clock.
The collectors have been asked to make advance arrangements to evacuate people from low-lying areas to safe locations, if the need arises, and stock adequate food, drinking water and lighting in shelters/relief camps.
“Arrangements may be made to clear the road communication in the event of landslide in hilly areas,” the SRC added.
