Heavy Rain Forecast For Odisha In Next 24 Hours

Bhubaneswar: There will heavy rainfall in most parts of Odisha in the next 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday.

The IMD’s mid-day bulletin said that a low-pressure area is likely to form in the Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours under the influence of a cyclonic circulation that has formed over West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh with a tilt towards the south-west direction.

This low pressure will trigger heavy to very heavy rainfall in most parts of Odisha for two days from Sunday, the bulletin added.

The IMD has also issued orange and yellow warnings for the following districts:

August 18
(Orange warning)

Heavy  to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over the districts of Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak and Keonjhar.

(Yellow warning)
Heavy rainfall at isolated places over the districts of Jajpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Kendrapada, Nayagarh, Angul,  Khurda, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput and  Rayagada.

August 19
(Orange warning)

Keonjhar, Sundergarh, Deogarh, Bargarh and Jharsuguda.

(Yellow warning)
Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur,  Angul, Boudh,  Sonepur, Nuapada,  Balangir, Koraput, Rayagada, Kalahandi and Kandhamal.

Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea along the Odisha coast and North West Bay of Bengal and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours as the sea condition is likely to be rough to very rough, the bulletin said.
